Professional Year Program

A Professional Year Program is a structured professional development program combining formal learning and workplace experience for international students who have graduated from a university in Australia.

This program introduced by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) with aims to enhance the employability of International graduates of Accounting, IT and Engineering fields.

Professional Year Programs are primarily designed for students wishing to apply for permanent residency in Australia.

Professional year in Australia

You can receive 5 (five) points for having completed a professional year in Australia in the four years before you were invited to apply for skilled Independent visa.

Your professional year course must have been in your nominated skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation. The course must have lasted for at least 12 months.

Recognised Professional Year Programs:

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) only recognises Professional Year Programs that have been approved by the government.
